this just made my day so much better. as a kid in the 80s i couldn't be bothered with the usual songs on the radio(though we had the usual Thriller and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun albums, just not many)..... my mom had an old record player and dozens of old records. she rarely played them though i do recall the times when she did. she actually showed me and my brothers how to work the infernal machine at some point. he stopped bothering with it when the novelty wore off but i was obsessed. even when we finally got to the point where cassette tapes and CDs were more convenient i still craved the old vinyl. my mom the Irish Rovers and Clancy brothers and a few others. they got me started on my passion for Irish traditional music. while other kids were rocking out to new kids on the block or garth brooks.... i was humming the tune to Finnegan's Wake to myself. Listening to this album now just warms my cold little heart. And I still love my vinyl. i even bought a new record player and started adding to my collection again. i don't know how i'll do it, but i intend to add this one too.
